A Quiet Place: Day One (2024)

Great Acting but Disappointing Story

A Review

Read Time: 1 min read

Rating: 3 out of 5.

The movie was enjoyable overall, but it definitely felt slow at times. The suspense that made the first two films so gripping just wasn’t there. It felt like the stakes weren’t as high this time around.

What really disappointed me was that it didn’t feel like a disaster movie. Instead of showing how the world was falling apart or how people were trying to survive on a bigger scale, it focused on just two characters. Sure, we got a glimpse of how some people adapted, but it wasn’t enough to show just how screwed humanity is with these creatures running around. The world-building felt lacking, and that was a big missed opportunity.

Oh, and do yourself a favor—don’t watch the trailer. As usual, it spoils way too much of the movie.

I was honestly surprised that John Krasinski was one of the writers for this. Considering his involvement in the first two films, it’s weird that he didn’t seem to recognize the bigger picture this time. Those first movies already focused on individual lives and their struggles. We didn’t need a third one to do the same thing again. What we needed was a look at how it all began or how the situation escalated, but that didn’t happen.

By the end, it leaves you with more questions than answers. It’s a good movie, but story-wise, it doesn’t hold a candle to the first two. That said, the acting was absolutely phenomenal 👌🏾, and the performances are what really carried it.

A harrowing metamorphosis from family man to felon. Coster-Waldau delivers a career-best performance as an unwilling kingpin, proving prison doesn’t reform—it rewires. Brutal, beautiful, and tragically underrated, Shot Caller is Breaking Bad meets American History X with twice the gut-punch.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)

A gloriously stupid premise executed with unexpected flair. Walker’s Lincoln swings axes like a superhero while the film blends historical nods with supernatural nonsense. The vampire-slaying action shines, even if the plot bites off more than it can chew. Pure, unapologetic B-movie fun.
