The end is coming. Can humanity stop it? And more importantly—how many times have we already tried?

I have to say, Edge of Tomorrow (Formally called Live, Die, Repeat) was pretty fantastic, especially because of the ending. And no, not just because of the oh-so-famous star power. The plot was incredibly well done, though I will admit, the lack of a real explanation for the aliens was a little frustrating. That said, you pick up enough about them throughout the movie that it’s not a huge issue. What really makes this film stand out is its clever execution, dark humor, and one of the most terrifyingly intelligent alien enemies I’ve seen in a while. If something like this ever existed in real life, well… let’s just say we’d all be very dead.

Now, my one major gripe? The final act gets way too dark—literally. It’s one of those movies where the screen just turns into a black void, making it frustrating to follow what’s happening. I get that some films use darkness for atmosphere, claustrophobia, or tension, but this felt more like, “Oops, we ran out of CGI budget, let’s just turn off the lights.” It didn’t add to the intensity, it was just annoying. Movies, take note: If I need night vision goggles to enjoy your action scenes, something has gone terribly wrong.

That aside, the film delivers in all the right ways. The visuals are stunning, the action is engaging, and thankfully, there’s no overdone, emotionally exhausting “save-the-world-through-love” subplot dragging things down. Sure, there’s a touch of romance, but it’s minimal—just enough to keep things interesting without derailing the story. Given that the film is built around repetition, it could have easily felt slow or tedious, but instead, it stays fresh with smart pacing and well-timed humor. +1 for that.

If you’re into high-stakes action, time loops, and watching Tom Cruise get absolutely wrecked over and over again, Edge of Tomorrow is definitely worth your time. Just maybe watch it on a high-quality mega backlit screen so you can actually see what’s happening in the finale.
