A Review

Read Time: 1 min read

Rating: 2 out of 5.

A film about a gambling man who goes for a huge run on his money when picked up by a local richman.

After meeting an old man at the casino, Jack is offered a job with big rewards, and he knows he can’t turn it down. Drinking and having a good time with the old man, Jack starts to think he might have made a mistake when Duffy, the old man, begins betting him to do strange things for large sums of money that he just happens to have. After being asked to leave a strip club, Jack returns to Duffy’s place to hear his proposal for “The Deal.” Upon entering his home for only a few minutes, Jack is introduced to Duffy’s 4th wife—his girl in captivity.

The bets start getting even stranger. Duffy first bets Jack that he can have sex with his wife, and only a few moments later, he raises the stakes, betting an even higher amount to watch. From there, the real chaos begins, and the movie truly takes off.

It starts off a bit slow and confusing, so the beginning might leave you wondering what’s going on. However, as the scenes progress and you analyze the characters, the story begins to piece itself together, and you’ll quickly understand the overall plot.

It’s not the best movie I’ve seen in this genre of a man betting strangers to do crazy things for money. A film I watched recently, Cheap Thrills, is actually much better in my opinion—definitely a must-watch if you’re into this type of movie.

If you enjoy thrillers, betting, life risks, somewhat predictable plotlines, and life resolutions, give this movie a watch.

A boy goes missing. Years later, a stranger shows up pretending to be him—and the family believes it. The Imposter is as surreal as it is real, a masterclass in manipulation that leaves you questioning everything.

A Quiet Place: Day One (2024)

The movie was enjoyable but felt slow and lacked the suspense of its predecessors. It focused too much on two characters, missing the larger disaster theme and world-building opportunities. Despite strong performances, it left many questions unanswered and didn’t capture the essence of how the situation escalated.

The Crow (2024)

This movie is a total waste—boring, unimaginative, and utterly pointless. The character arcs feel forced, the plot stumbles aimlessly, and the soundtrack leans into cliché melodrama. It tries to say something but forgets what halfway through. Skip it.
