These Final Hours (2013)

The End is Here, What Would You Do?

A Review

Read Time: 1 min read

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

These Final Hours depicts the story of an apocalypse, and in those final hours, what a man chooses to do with them.

This film can and will make you cry. It truly is a sad story, yet undeniably real. If an apocalypse were to happen, this film gives an excellent depiction of that harsh reality.

The apocalypse in the film is caused by a meteor hitting Earth, triggering an impact wave that wipes out all of humanity—essentially the same fate the dinosaurs faced. I’m still a bit shaken from the ending because it was so powerful that it legitimately made my heart race until the climax. I have so much respect for how they chose to end this film. The credits, void of music and so simple, gave a sense of finality, and the silence that followed made me pause for a moment to gather myself.

Throughout the film, you occasionally hear a narrator, who explains how much time is left and adds to the drama of the ending. I thought this was a fantastic addition because, not only do you see the story unfold from one side, but you also hear the countdown in the background, constantly reminding you that the end is very near.

The actors were phenomenal. Just phenomenal. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I prefer “unknown” actors over famous mainstream ones any day. Once you give newcomers a chance, you can never be prepared for what they bring to the table. The main male actor in this film was so “real” that I felt every emotion he was trying to convey. I truly connected with his character. Even in the semi-ending scene, when he runs for his life and to his love, I knew from the moment he started that journey it was going to be a powerful ending. His crying didn’t feel forced in the slightest. Maybe it’s just me, or maybe I’m being overly kind, but he really surprised me—in the best way possible.

The little girl was also exceptionally amazing. Her character was that of a lost, scared girl searching for her father. (You already know what happens, but you push it aside because you don’t want her journey to be in vain.) Deep down, the main male character probably knew this too, but he held onto hope—hope that he was wrong.

I encourage you to watch this film, regardless of your preferences. It’s a beautifully made film with incredible shots, and the story is unlike any I’ve seen before (and don’t get me wrong, there are many great apocalyptic stories). But this one, in particular, stands out to me. I hope you have the same experience, if not a similar or even better one, while watching this film.

Howdy! This article could not be written any better! Looking at this post reminds me of
my previous roommate! He continually kept talking about
this. I’ll forward this post to him. Fairly certain he’s going to have a good read.
Many thanks for sharing!

I blog frequently and I seriously appreciate your content.

I think that what you posted was actually very logical. However, what about
this? what if you were to create a killer post title?
I ain’t saying your content is not good., however suppose you added a title that grabbed people’s attention? I mean These
Final Hours | Influx Film Reviews is kinda vanilla.
You could peek at Yahoo’s home page and note how they create
article titles to grab people to click. You might add a related video or a related
pic or two to get readers interested about everything’ve got to say.
In my opinion, it could make your posts a little bit more interesting.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020)

Sorkin’s Chicago 7 is all righteous speechifying and zero substance—a whitewashed courtroom circus where the revolution is reduced to quippy liberals debating respectability politics. The ensemble shines (Rylance, Langella), but it’s kneecapped by Sorkin’s trademark neoliberal myopia and directorial clumsiness. History deserves better than this sanitized, speech-heavy pageant.
